McDonald, Carroll, Keen, Mackintosh and Morrisey to Be Part of Almeida Season

Principal casting has been confirmed for the Almeida's next set of productions.
Peter McDonald will perform in the European premiere of Adam Rapp's Nocturne; Nancy Carroll and Will Keen will lead the cast of a new production of Harley Granville Barker's Waste; and Steven Mackintosh and David Morrisey will star in Neil LaBute's In A Dark Dark House.
Nocturne — which will play July 16-26 (with a press night on July 18) before transferring to Edinburgh's Traverse (July 31-Aug. 10 as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe) — features McDonald as a man dealing with the ramifications of his guilt after he accidentally killed his younger sister a decade-and-a-half earlier. McDonald was most recently on stage in the West End in Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross at the Apollo Theatre in October 2007, when he took over at short notice for the originally announced Anthony Flanagan. His other theatre credits include Exiles and Aristocrats for the National Theatre, Resurrection Blues for the Old Vic, Days of Wine and Roses and A Lie of the Mind for the Donmar Warehouse, The Lieutenant of Inishmore at the Garrick Theatre and The Wexford Trilogy for the Tricycle Theatre. The play is directed by Matt Wilde.
Waste, which will play Sept. 25-Nov. 25 (with a press night on Oct. 2), will feature Will Keen as Henry Trebell, a radical politician who sees his personal and political lives collide following an affair with a married woman, Amy O'Connell, played by Nancy Carroll. Keen was last at the Almeida as T. S. Eliot in Tom and Viv in 2006, and also appeared there in Five Gold Rings in 2003. Other recent ttheatre credits include The Arsonists for the Royal Court, Kiss of the Spider Woman for the Donmar Warehouse, Cheek by Jowl's The Changeling at the Barbican and The Rubenstein Kiss for Hampstead Theatre. Carroll has appeared at the National Theatre in The Enchantment, Man of Mode, The Voysey Inheritence, The False Servant and The Talking Cure, and at the RSC in Henry IV Parts 1 and 2; As You Like It; The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe; and The Winter's Tale. The cast will also include Richard Cordery, Patrick Drury, Peter Eyre, Helen Lindsay, Hugh Ross and Michael Thomas, with further casting to be announced. The play is directed by Samuel West.
Neil LaBute's In a Dark Dark House, which will run Nov. 20, 2008-Jan. 17, 2009 (with a press night on Nov. 27), will feature Steven Mackintosh and David Morrissey as Drew and Terry, respectively, two brothers who are worlds apart. The play follows what happens after they are reunited when an encounter with a pretty girl on their father's miniature golf course sends out shockwaves that mean that their lives will never be the same again. Mackintosh's theatre credits include David Hare's My Zinc Bed (Royal Court) and The Woman in Black (Fortune Theatre), but he is best known for his film work that includes "The Jacket," "Underworld: Evolution," "The Escapist," "Tulse Luper Suitcases," "The Mother," "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels," "The Land Girls" and "Prick Up Your Ears." Morrissey has appeared onstage in Three Days of Rain (Donmar Warehouse), Much Ado About Nothing (Queen's) as well as King John, Richard III and Edward IV (RSC). His extensive television credits include Peter Morgan's "The Deal," "Sense and Sensibility" and "Our Mutual Friend." The third role is still to be announced. The play is directed by Almeida artistic director Michael Attenborough.
