Phil DiMaggio, Stage Manager and Casting Director, Dead at 57

Phil DiMaggio, a New York theatre professional who worked in a number of capacities over a long career, including casting director and stage manager, died on Aug. 14 in his home in Vermont, according to his friend Julie Hughes. He was 57.

Mr. DiMaggio was for many years an administrative assistant to legendary Broadway producer Alexander Cohen. In that capacity, he worked on the Tony Awards broadcast, which Cohen produced for many years, as well as on a number of Cohen's Broadway shows.

As a stage manager, he manned the Broadway play Precious Sons, and the 1980s tours of The Tap Dance Kid and On Your Toes. For ten years, he was a member of Hughes Moss Casting, working on films such as "Blood Simple."

He is survived by long time partner Lee Crogen.
