Following a twice-extended run at San Diego's Old Globe, the marriage-minded musical based on the Paddy Chayefsky TV film and movie comes to Broadway. With a book by Harvey Fierstein, who is also featured in the cast, A Catered Affair tells the story of a Bronx mother's efforts to give her only daughter the elaborate wedding she never had. The show, according to press notes, "reveals relationships strained to their limits when a couple must decide whether to spend their life savings on a family business or to launch their only daughter's marriage with a lavish catered affair."
